About This Presentation

Slide 1 - Big Question? Will organic or inorganic fertilizer make a plant grow more? By using organic fertilizer on one plant and inorganic fertilizer on another, I will be able to determine which type of fertilizer will make the plant grow more.
Slide 2 - Hypothesis I believe organic fertilizer will make the plant grow faster and longer. I feel more natural fertilizer is better for the plant.
Slide 3 - Interesting Facts Chemical fertilizers kill nutrients needed for the plant to grow. Inorganic fertilizer can cost more. Organic fertilizers contains carbon and either nitrogen, phosphorus, or potassium. Nitrogen is the most used nutrient in plants. Organic fertilizers help the plants ability to hold water.
Slide 4 - Experiment a. Materials Needed: Potting soil 6 peat cups Grass seeds Organic fertilizer Inorganic fertilizer
Slide 5 - Procedure: Fill six peat cups with potting soil. Place ¼ teaspoon of grass seeds in each cup. Water each cup once a day. Use organic fertilizer on three cups and inorganic on the other. Measure and record growth every day. Continue for two weeks.
Slide 6 - Observations The inorganic plants grew first. The inorganic plants grew taller than the organic. It took close to one week for any of the plants to grow. The tallest plant grew to 19cm and it was fertilized with inorganic products.
Slide 7 - Data
Slide 8 - Data Analysis Yes, the experiment tested my hypothesis. All of the potted seeds grew.
Slide 9 - Conclusion No, my hypothesis was not correct because the inorganic fertilized seeds grew first and taller. Next time I would measure the water given to each plant because this may effect how fast the plants grow.
