Slide 1 - ULIP Vs. Mutual Funds What is ULIP? The full term of ULIP is Unit-Linked Insurance Plan, and it is a financial instrument that is divided into two parts: the investment portion, which is where the phrase "Unit Linked" originates from, and the insurance portion. A ULIP is a one-of-a-kind instrument that combines the benefits of insurance and an investment vehicle into a single package. In layman's words, ULIP indicates that a portion of your premium is placed in insurance while the remainder is invested in stocks, bonds, and other investment vehicles. To summarize, a ULIP is a combination of investment, insurance, and tax savings that combine to make a compelling triple benefit story that insurance brokers may present to policyholders. However, before purchasing a ULIP insurance, you must consider the ULIP charges, which include mortality charges, premium allocation charges, fund management expenses, and administration charges.
