Slide 6 - Partnerships and Professionalism: The New Paradigm for Wilderness Preservation For up to 200 attendees Hosted at the Rio Grande Nature Center with an evening social at the Elena Galagos Open Space adjacent to the Sandia Mountain Wilderness. This training will be held October 14 and 15, 2014 and costs $75/participant. Participants who are also attending the National Wilderness Conference receive a $25 discount.
Slide 7 - Gila 90th The Gila Wilderness, the first national dedicated wilderness, was created on June 3, 1924 as a result of a proposal by the renowned conservation pioneer Aldo Leopold. To commemorate this historical event, the Gila National Forest hosted a celebration of the 90th anniversary of the dedication of the Gila Wilderness on May 25 at the Gila Cliff Dwellings National Monument Visitor Center. Also opening for the Gila 90th anniversary is, “Gila Wild,” an exhibit at the Silver City Museum including historical photos and artifacts, interactive displays, demonstrations and special programs throughout the year
